When it comes to sustainability, Forest & Maker is no ordinary company. As the proud holders of the Grown in Britain Chain of Custody Certificate, (which you can read about here) our commitment to ethical and environmentally responsible furniture runs right through our core. In fact, with our tree planting programme we actually give back way more than we take.
We aim to go well beyond what is expected of us, which means when you specify our furniture, you can be sure that every piece is crafted from the finest hardwood; hand-selected and sourced from certified, sustainable sources. If you’ve not yet discovered our projects, why not take a look now.
We only buy timber from suppliers and forests that are licensed or certified by Grown in Britain, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
All of our timber is from certified, sustainable sources. However, every now and then, we might also consider using an individually felled or naturally fallen tree. To craft a piece of furniture from wood that might otherwise become firewood gives the timber a long and useful second life.
We sponsor an ethical tree-planting project run by Grown in Britain. With our support, we hope such eco-friendly schemes will restore degraded woodlands and create productive, healthy and well-managed forests for the future. An active tree-planting programme is good for people, wildlife and the wider environment.
We are always looking for new ways to use left-over timber. Sold through our Forest to Home brand, we make a range of household items from the timber off-cuts. Each piece is crafted with the same care and precision as our main furniture range.
