Creation of a bespoke tree planter

The teams at STAC architecture and the restaurant chain Tonkotsu challenged us to create this stunningly intricate, geometric tree planter.
Designed so that customers could use one side as a bench seat, with the other being used as eating shelf for sitting at with stools. The angled profile of the sides, combined with the circular shape meant that every piece had to be individually tapered. Thousands of cuts to ensure symmetry.
A Grown in Britain certified Ash core provided the structure and frame to which the FSC birch ply cladding. was fixed.
