Well over a year in design and craft, the Forest and Maker team were extremely proud to have been selected as the makers for the new Working from co working office space located within the Hoxton Hotel in Southwark, London. Spanning over 5 floors, the pieces we crafted for this space included desking to seat over 700 people, Credenzas and Side tables.
Working alongside the design team, we were able to provide expertise and knowledge to help them bring their vision to life, with this being the first office space Ennismore has bought to the UK within their truly iconic Hoxton Hotel brand.
Of particular note, all of the desking and Credenzas were crafted out of Grown in Britain certified British Ash. With this timber being massively under threat from Ash Dieback, a currently unstoppable disease that will likely wipe out up to 95% of the species within the UK, we are extremely proud to see such a large quantity utilised and not discarded. For more information on Ash Dieback please see our recent blog here.
The desking ranged in size from 2.5 – 7metres in length, featuring dovetail drawers and CNC engraved wireless chargers, these piece are truly bespoke and ensure the Ennismore team we able to create a space that truly represents the Hoxtons ‘Art Deco’ brand.
Well over 1000 hand turned British Ash legs were created for this project.
With our material sourcing procedures seeing us source the vast majority of our timber locally, this project had extremely low carbon footprint.
Utilising a local timber mill, who source the majority of their Ash in the South West, we also crafted all the the pieces for this space in house in our Wiltshire workshop.
