When it came to sourcing desks for an innovative shared workspace in South London, Forest & Maker was the natural choice.
When Ennismore, the hospitality powerhouse behind Gleneagles, decided to launch a new coworking space at The Hoxton in Southwark, they had sustainability firmly at the forefront of their design ethos.
Spanning five floors, Working From_ has views over the Thames, and looks and feels like a home-from-home. It’s a stunning, art-deco space that caters for some 700 workers, and we at Forest & Maker were proud to handcraft the bespoke desks.
Made from British-grown ash, with its distinctive grain pattern, each and every one of our creations tells its own uniquely beautiful story. They’re tactile, comfortable to sit at and can make even the most jetlagged worker feel happily at home. They’re more than just a place to pull up a chair – they’re a space where projects are born, and dreams are made.
With desk spaces ranging from a single-seater to a seven-metre expanse, there’s something at Working From_ to suit everyone, from lone rangers to collaborative creatures. But most importantly, each desk has been created with the utmost respect for our natural world, by talented local craftsmen based in our Wiltshire HQ.
Each piece of ash is sourced from sustainably managed forests in the South West, all certified by Grown in Britain.
In fact, this is furniture that actively gives back. Some 40 trees went into the making of our desks, yet 400 more will be planted in return as part of our forest preservation project. Not only does every desk have a unique history, but each one is part of a bright and sustainable future.
